On the eastern side of Torajima, there is a rock face slanted diagonally with words carvedso large that they are readable from boat. This Decree of Five translates roughly to: "Forbiddance of Killing, Tomogashima Five Locations, Kannen Cave, Johon Cave, Akai, Shinja Pond, Sword Pond, 1669." This is said to have been written by the first Regional Administrator of the Kishu Tokugawa governance, Tokugawa Yorinobu.
